From 29 June to 22 December, the Musée Estrine in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence will be presenting an exhibition by Nelly Maurel!
Exhibition by Nelly Maurel: "I hate travelling and explorers".
Programming for the "Grand Arles Express" as part of the Rencontres d'Arles 2024 festival
To mark its new participation in the Rencontres d'Arles, the Musée Estrine has invited the artist Nelly Maurel to take part in an ongoing photographic project on the egg.
The exhibition will bring together around a hundred small-format photographs. Nelly Maurel's artistic practice is eclectic, at the crossroads of all disciplines, with an interest in drawing as well as poetry, music and photography.
"I've just created a series of "ethnological photographs" based on a fairly simple subject: women who collect and throw eggs, or use them in unusual ways. It's an enigmatic collection (the meaning is so hard to pin down that you might question their authenticity), but it's also credible (the images look like ones you've seen before). [...] I obtain these images by using AI tools and other complementary image technologies to harmonise them, correct them, embellish them and make them credible.
Nelly Maurel's work is regularly shown in France and abroad, notably at the Centre Pompidou Málaga, Centre Pompidou Paris, Fondation Boghossian Brussels, Fondation Fernet-Branca Saint-Louis and MAMCO Geneva.
