Carrières des Lumières

Every year, a major new show is put on, featuring some of the greatest names in the history of art. These shows are projected onto the immense 14-metre-high walls, pillars and floors of the quarry, transporting you in music into colourful worlds. A new illumination of the Carrières de Lumières reveals the unique and unusual character of the site and reveals its mineral beauty.
The Carrières de Lumières benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and processes.

From 19 April 2024, Les Carrières des Lumières will be decked out in the colours of the Orient, offering an immersion into the Egypt of the pharaohs, from Khéops to Ramsès II for the long programme, and The Orientalists, Ingres, Delacroix and Gérôme for the short programme.
A plunge into the light of the Deep South, into the history and mysteries of the Orient through the travel diaries of the Western painters who went there.

14 exceptional evenings from 18 July 2024. During these unique evenings, discover or relive the emotion of the previous exhibitions, a unique selection based on surrealism by painters who will plunge you into an offbeat universe!
Dali, Chagall and Kandinsky

- The last Sentinels: An immersive creation based on hundreds of photographs by the famous artist Jimmy Nelson.
A forty-minute journey to the heart of the world's last indigenous cultures and landscapes, "The Last Sentinels", created by the Spectre Lab studio, celebrates the diversity of these peoples who live in harmony with nature.
