A traditional and moving festival, dear to the hearts of the Provençal people, the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence Transhumance Festival is undoubtedly the most famous festival in the south of France which brings back to life the departures to the mountain pastures.
From the morning:
- Antiques fair, exhibition of bells.
- Sale of posters of the Transhumance and raffle tickets
- Stand of the Maison de la Transhumance on the Place de la République
- Cheese fair (regional producers on Boulevard Marceau)
10.30 am: Departure of the flock of ewes from the Plateau de la Crau with the shepherds of Provence, the goats of Rove, the donkeys of Provence and the charretons to make 2 laps of the town and return to the sheepfold.
At the end of the afternoon, the animals are sorted out to go back to their pasture to leave on a real transhumance.
