30 years after the first exhibition Ateliers d'artistes, the Musée des Alpilles once again questions the artists and creative craftsmen of the region and invites the visitor to enter the intimacy of the workshops.
For a long time, the Alpilles has been a privileged space for artistic creation. But who are these artists living or working in the area?
The survey asks the questions: who are the artists? How many are they, beginners or experienced, young or old, men or women, living from their art or practising it only in their leisure time? How is the region inspiring, how are the places, villages and landscapes particularly conducive to creation? Do the artists know each other, do they share their experiences or just a few moments?
The exhibition does not answer all the questions but aims to draw attention to this activity as one of the particular characteristics of our region, to show it as much as possible in its entirety and diversity. From the idea of the Alpilles as a privileged space for artistic activities, we move on to that of the studio, the crossroads between the private and intimate life of the artist, between the outside world and his creative work. It is part of the CREA - Lieux de création - Territoire d'inspiration project of the town of Saint-Rémy, within the framework of the Provencal Capitals of Culture of the Arles region.
