On Thursday 14 November at 7pm, La cour des Arts and the Ciné-Palace invite you to a lecture on the artist Henri Matisse.
Matisse had to be touched by the initiative of these people from the north for him to confide to those close to him ‘I am going to be reborn in Cateau’. He therefore made an initial donation of 80 works, which he himself decided to hang in the VIP lounge of the Renaissance town hall.
A talk by Jean-Marie Faugeroux, co-hosted by Olivier Brayer
‘Throughout his life, Henri Matisse was a man of the north, attached to his birthplace - Le Cateau Cambrésis - and to his family home in Bohain-en-Vermandois’. Jean-Marie Faugeroux, President of the Friends of the Museums of Hauts-de-France, will be demonstrating this. His father, François Faugeroux, the first curator of the only museum created by Matisse in 1952 and a former student of the École nationale des arts décoratifs in 1925 who became a magistrate, gave him the authentic story of this original adventure if ever there was one!
