With a name with distant literary references, this international pianist of two cultures, French and Haitian, recently made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Philharmonie in Paris.
But it is in Fontvieille, the land of her great-great-uncle Alphonse Daudet, that she will set down her bags for the 29th colloquium devoted to "Daudet and poetry". It will be an opportunity to hear the composers who were present in Parisian concerts at that time, in particular Georges Bizet (who composed not only L'Arlésienne), but also Reynaldo Hahn, with whom Daudet regularly associated. Alongside famous pieces by these 'friends of Alphonse' and their colleagues Satie and Debussy, Célimène will unveil rarer pieces by two Haitian composers from the early 20th century whom she has already made known via a now famous disc, Haiti mon amour (NoMadMusic): Ludovic Lamothe and Justin Elie, both born in 1883. This recital under the stars on the square in front of the Château de Montauban will plunge us into the sound universe of the great French romantic piano at the dawn of the 20th century.
