Comics Forum - 8th edition


On 11 and 12 August 2024, take part in 2 days of festivities to immerse yourself in Antiquity through comics!

Two days of festivities during which young and old alike can meet authors of comics with a link to Antiquity, get great autographs for every album purchased, watch historical re-enactment troupes in action, learn about ancient board games and take part in educational workshops.

2 venues:
- Sunday 11 August
10am - 5pm on the Plateau des Antiques de Glanum
- Monday 12 August
10am - 5.30pm on the Glanum archaeological site
All of this as part of the "Arelate, journées romaines d'Arles" festival.

Authors present:
Agnès Maupré ("Les bâtardes de Zeus"), Gabrielle Lavoir ("Une folle histoire d'archéologie" and "Du côté de l'Olympe"), Philippe Larbier and Christophe Cazenove ("Les Petits Mythos"), Laurent Sieurac (last volume in the "Arelate" and "Valérius Proculus" series) with Alain Genot (archaeologist at the Musée d'Arles, "Arelate" and "Les arkéos") and David Djaoui (archaeologist at the Musée d'Arles, also author of "Enquêtes archéologiques").

- SUNDAY 11 AUGUST: 10AM - 12.30PM AND 2PM - 5PM
Venue: Plateau des Antiques de Glanum (free admission)
Drinks and refreshments available at the Buvette de Glanum

* Signing sessions (for all comics purchased on site).
* The library outside the walls": the Joseph-Roumanille municipal library will be moving outside its walls to the Plateau des Antiques to offer a wide range of reading material on Antiquity, as well as drawing and comic book games for all ages from 7 upwards. There will also be three self-service workshops for children:
-> du Mistral et des Bulles: the bubbles are gone, it's up to you to invent them!
-> BDNF: create your own comic strip using the Bibliothèque Nationale de France application.
-> Les bacs des p'tits archéologues: can you reconstruct the mosaic and find the dinosaurs?
* Activities and workshops for all, organised by the Arelate association: oil lamp making, presentation of a domus model, quiz on fruit and vegetables and ancient hairstyles.
* Alea jacta est - Antique board games area
The Martingale association is offering a range of games inspired by Rome and Antiquity for all ages and tastes.

- MONDAY 12 AUGUST: 10AM - 1PM AND 2.30PM - 5.30PM
Venue: Glanum archaeological site
Glanum refreshment bar on site

* Signing sessions in the reception building (for all comics purchased on site). Free admission.
* The library outside the walls" (idem Sunday). Free admission.
* Activities and workshops for all, by the Arelate association (same as Sunday). Included in the entrance ticket to the site.
* Alea jacta est - Ancient board games area (idem Sunday). Free admission.
* 10.30am: Guided tour of the Glanum archaeological site. Included in the entrance ticket to the site - Duration: 1h30 / Limited to 30 people. No booking required.
* 3pm: presentation of the archaeological site of Glanum / Included in the entrance ticket to the site - Duration: 30 minutes.
