December is just around the corner, and with it comes the festive season in Provence and in Saint-Étienne du Grès. A whole host of events will be taking place over the coming weeks, to the delight of young and old alike.
2024 programme:
Friday 6 December: Merchants' pre-Christmas party
5.30pm - Photos with Father Christmas in his house - Library
6.30pm - Procession in a horse-drawn carriage to the town hall for the illuminations in the forecourt
7pm - Illumination of the big Christmas tree - Place de la Mourgue
7.30pm - Winter buffet offered by the Grès shopkeepers - Place de la Mourgue
Friday 13 December: The Little Christmas Market
This year, 60 stalls run by associations, shopkeepers and craftsmen will be selling quality seasonal products. It's the perfect Christmas market for choosing your presents!
Night market from 5pm to 10.30pm
6pm - Official opening of the Christmas market - place Jean Galeron
7pm - Fireworks - Place de la Mairie
7.30pm - Illuminated car parade
Saturday 14th December
Christmas market from 10am to 6pm
10.30 am - Musical opening
11am - Entertainment by children from the leisure centre
12pm and 4pm - Provençal dances
12.30pm, 2.30pm and 5pm - Mascots in the snow
From 2pm - Photos with Father Christmas / Carriage rides
3pm - Christmas carols sung by the school children
From 5pm - Tasting of hot apple juice offered by the Town Hall
Saint-Jean d'Hiver bonfire
Transhumance / Torchlight procession
6.30pm - Advent concert ‘Polyphonies d'O’ in the church
